RAW 309 Cr.1 was derived from the same tumor as RAW 309F.1.1 (see ATCC TIB-51).

The cells are negative for surface immunoglobulin (sIg-) Thy-1.2 (Thy-1.2-) and Ia (Ia-).

The cells will pinocytose neutral red and phagocytose latex beads and zymosan.

They will also lyse antibody coated sheep erythrocytes.

Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).

Complete Growth Medium

The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.

Subculturing

Protocol: Subcultures are prepared by scraping. Remove old medium, add fresh, dislodge cells and dispense into new flasks.

Subcultivation Ratio: A subcultivation ratio of 1:2 to 1:4 is recommended

Medium Renewal: 2 to 3 times per week

Cryopreservation

Freeze medium: Complete growth medium supplemented with 5% (v/v) DMSO
